As well as supporting 4K footage, the Ultimate edition adds 3D tracking, 3D particle simulation, and more advanced colour correction tools. One drawback is that it only supports footage up to 1080p in resolution, but you can currently upgrade to its big sibling, HitFilm 2 Ultimate, from $201.75. The software, which usually costs $149, includes features more commonly found in more expensive tools, including 3D compositing, 2D tracking and image stabilisation, and basic particle effects. FXhome is making HitFilm 2 Express, its surprisingly powerful editing, compositing and effects package, available for free to anyone willing to sign up for its newsletters and spread word of the offer on social media.
